 Letter from the Editor

The temperature's rising, the farmers' markets have returned, and the bees are buzzing in the air. Spring is finally here! At Bauman College we encourage you to welcome the season with an old fashioned Spring cleaning. Our Spring cleaning doesn't stop at the cupboards and the closets. Here we emphasize cleaning out the chemical-laden, unhealthy foods from your pantry, the toxins from your body, and any destructive thoughts and attitudes from your mind. A cleanse in the truest sense - in environment, in body, and in mind.

Every year in May and August, Bauman College offers our Vitality Cleansing & Rejuvenation Retreats, for the ultimate therapeutic mind and body cleanse. Rejuvenate and prepare for healthy days ahead at our relaxing, empowering escape in the beautiful mountains of Woodside, CA. Rich organic juices and mineral broths, group discussions, and inspirational lectures provide the perfect atmosphere for healthful change. Click here to find out more.

Below you'll find a Spring-inspired fresh and seasonal juice recipe to help you prepare for your full body cleanse. Our Green Lemonade is a delicious and nutrition-packed way to start your morning energized and ready for the days ahead. You'll also find an informative article that will prepare you for a much-needed bodily cleanse. Happy cleansing!

by Ed Bauman, M.Ed., Ph.D. and Debbie Gisonni

The insatiable desire for a quick fix to achieve health and weight loss sends most people from one extreme to another in their diets and, ultimately, their lives. Deprivation is usually the common thread in most diets, and traditional fasting takes that concept to the extreme. On the other hand, feasting is seen as an act of pure gluttony. Cultural norms tell us that deprivation is good and feasting is bad. But what if feasting and fasting were equally healthy for you? (Click here to read this entire article.)
