Letter from the Editor
The warm, beautiful weather of summer is quickly approaching, inspiring us to get out of our homes, out of our offices, and enjoy a summer getaway. Don't forget that taking some time out for yourself can be just as important as diet and exercise. Just like processed foods, stress builds toxins in your body which are toxic to your health. Summer is a reminder that once in a while we just need to escape from it all and find a quiet place to rejuvenate. Take a vacation for goodness sake!
But don't forget to eat well while on your hiatus, or you may find that any health benefits you receive from your time off will be thrown off. Take some time to really get in touch with yourself and discover what your needs are today. Find out what creative outlets make you feel at peace, what kind of heart-pumping activity makes you feel alive, and what kinds of food really make you feel healthy and energized. A healthful, cleansing time of healing means relaxing and being good to your mind, body and soul.
Even "getting away" for just 20 minutes each day works wonders. Take some time to decompress and find your balance. You will feel more energetic, more at peace, and much happier.

Fruits and vegetables are good for what ails us we’re told, and there certainly is truth to that. Just bursting with antioxidants with fancy-sounding names like carotenes, polyphenols, and ellagic acid, they help protect us from oxidative stress, inflammation, and if you’ve checked out the literature on blueberries recently, even cognitive decline.

Bauman College Tip: By juicing your fresh fruits and vegetables, you can enjoy a concentration of their flavors and nutritional benefits.
