Distance Learning | Print |
The Nutrition Consultant Training Program is available via Distance Learning. People who live far away, have time constraints, or simply prefer to work at their own pace can receive our excellent nutrition training at home. Our program is comprehensive, informative, and at the forefront of the rapidly growing field of nutrition. The Distance Learning Program brings the classroom to the student, giving one the flexibility and freedom to pursue in-depth nutrition education. Distance Learning is perfect for busy people who are independent, self-motivated, and have a desire to improve their lives and the world with holistic nutrition.

Program Features
  • Self-paced learning
  • Audio-synchronized slide presentations and educational videos
  • Regular telephone consultations with a Bauman College faculty member, as your Personal Mentor
  • Inclusion in the online Student Community Forum to share questions, experiences, recipes, and course work with classroom-based students and faculty

The Distance Learning instructor is Dr. Ed Bauman, M.Ed., Ph.D., President of Bauman College. Distance Learning course materials include audio-synchronized slide presentations narrated by Dr. Bauman, our outstanding course textbooks and workbooks, and textbooks authored by leaders in the nutrition field.

You will be assigned a Bauman College faculty member as your Personal Mentor to guide you through the entire program. Following each course module that you complete, you will consult with your Personal Mentor via telephone. S/he will grade and provide feedback on your work, answer your questions, direct you to additional resources, and fill in any gaps in your independent study. You will then be prepared for your next module and will set its due date. Having a mentor provides a gentle extra push toward completing your education and starting to reap the benefits, helping the world become a healthier place!

Required Computer Skills:
Use of a computer is required to participate in the Nutrition Consultant Training Program.  Please review our Technical FAQs before applying.

Self-Paced Programs

Students may begin the Bauman College Distance Learning Program at any time. Although we allow up to 27 months to complete the program, students may finish in as little as 18 months. Every student works differently, but 5-10 hours per week should be a reasonable commitment for an 18-month timeframe.

A medium level of computer proficiency is strongly recommended for our Distance Learning Program, as educational materials (MP3 audio files and slide presentations) are accessed through the Internet.  See FAQs for full details.

Curriculum Features

The Distance Learning Nutrition Consultant program shares the same curriculum foundation as its classroom-based counterpart, including the 3-month internship. In addition to the standard course materials, there are special features designed to enhance the Distance Learning format: The Distance Learning student receives audio files and slide presentations online, educational videos, and a telephone consultation with a Personal Mentor after each course topic is completed.

Academic Support

Unlike many other Distance Learning programs, Bauman College students have the benefit of one-on-one telephone consultations with personal mentors throughout the program to monitor their progress. The Distance Learning Mentor offers detailed feedback on homework for each course topic, answers questions, and directs students to resources to help strengthen their work.

We've Got Community

Distance Learning students interact online with classroom-based students and faculty via the Bauman College exclusive Student Community Forum. They share questions, experiences, course work, recipes, etc. Students may also choose to participate in monthly tele-lecture conference calls with President Ed Bauman, Ph.D.

The Distance Learning program at Bauman College is a dream come true. The information provided is extremely comprehensive and on the cutting edge of the nutrition field. The mentors are bright, available, and provide wonderful feedback. I feel I will come away with everything I need to have a thriving practice that will greatly benefit my community.
