Whole Foods to Stop Use of Plastic Bags
« on: February 17, 2008, 08:13:54 PM »
I subscribe to an e-mail newsletter www.mercola.com and received this information and thought I'd pass it along.  You can read the full article at the web address below:

Not only does it address Whole Foods campaign to stop plastic bag use, but it also informs consumers on the terrible effects of plastic use such as the "plastic stew" or "Eastern Garbage Patch" in the Pacific Ocean caused from consumer use and abuse.

I know many local markets are trying similiar steps to avoid this unneccessary waste.  New Leaf, for example, offers a cloth bag for just $.99.  The bigger stores obviously get the recognition, but it is nice to know they are setting a standard and hopefully making this a trend nationwide.
