help with environmental education whale poem
« on: June 11, 2008, 09:14:27 AM »
Dear Friends,

I am helping a friend who’s completing a children’s book on whales.  She got Mayor Newsom to declare national whale day April 27, 2009 and is planning a children’s reading of her poem “I’m a Whale” in several different languages.

What I need help with is someone who is a native speaker of one of these languages - Russian, French, Icelandic, Spanish,  Japanese.- who is willing to read the poem 3 different ways and record it.
1.  The poem needs to be read very slowly for children to learn the words.
2.  Read in a regular tempo in order to hear the overall rhythm of the words
3.  Read it back in English to see if our translation says what the original poem says.

We need it read in Russian, French, Icelandic, Spanish, and Japanese.

The poem is about 15 lines and we’ve already got it translated from English into those languages.  We need simple MP3 files if you have that capability or you could come to  my house in Sebastoplol to record.  If you know someone who speaks any of these languages please tell them about this environmental education project.  Please email me or call 707-827-3284 if you can help.

Thanks so much – blubber spout  blubber spout blubber spout.

Hello Sondra,
I just spoke to Naomi Tomoda, the current TA for NEPF07 class. She is from Japan and would love to help you out. I gave her your number. She will be calling you soon.
What a great project.
