« on: October 11, 2008, 08:11:09 PM »
Molasses are packed with all the B vitamins, magnesium, iron, copper,  manganese and calcium!
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup unrefined raw cane sugar
1/2 cup molasses
3 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup hazelnuts, roughly chopped
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
11/2 cups gluten free flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup dried dates or figs roughly chopped

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and line a 7 by 11 inch cake pan
2. Beat the butter, sugar, and molasses until smooth and creamy. Add beaten eggs slowly, beating well between each addition.
3. Add hazelnuts, vanilla, flour, baking powder, and cinnamon and mix into the creamed butter.
4. Stir the figs or dates into the mixture and spoon into the cake pan. Bake in middle of oven for 20-25 minutes or until firm to the touch.
5. Remove from oven and cool slightly before cutting into bars. Turn out of the pan and serve, or leave to cool completely and store in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
