Anthony's Homemade Granola
« on: March 30, 2009, 12:04:18 PM »
Hi all,
My son made this up last summer. We think it's delicious and very versatile.

We start with 18 oz organic steel cut oats and 4 tbsp of ground flax seeds.
Choose from:
raisins
diced dried apricots
chopped almonds
pumpkin seeds
dries cranberries
dried blueberries
chopped pecans
sunflower seeds
sesame seeds
chopped dates

Add:
 4 tbsp honey
drizle of molasses
1 Tbsp vanilla
1 drizzle extra virgin olive oil
2 Tbsp melted butter (optional)
2 Tbsp applesauce (also optional)

Pour oats and flax in large bowl. Add any combination of nuts, seeds, and fruit. Add all of the next ingredients and stir. Sprinkle generously with cinnamon and lightly with salt. You may add cloves, nutmeg and ginger to taste. Stir well and pour onto two full sized cookie sheets. Bake in 300* oven for about 25 minutes, stir granola and bake for another 20 minutes, until dry. Let cool completely and store in glass jars.
Yummy and versatile!

Enjoy~
Sheila
