Recommended Rice Cooker?
« on: March 26, 2010, 06:56:15 AM »
I would like to get a rice cooker and am wondering if any of you chefs out there have a recommended brand? I had to throw my old one away several years ago (don't remember the brand) because the complex lid design had become moldy and was unable to clean. Obviously, I want to avoid this problem again...so if you have any recommended brands let me know. Thanks!

Can rice cookers be used to cook other grains as well?

I had a microwave rice cooker but since I got rid of my microwave oven at few months ago I have been wanting to get a regular rice cooker!

I did some research a while back on rice cookers and found this useful:

http://www.finecooking.com/articles/high-tech-rice-cookers.aspx

just found this one on google search:
http://www.consumersearch.com/rice-cookers

i haven't bought one yet, but i think the zojirushi is the best (but most expensive) and sanyo is next best, going down in price.

the question i have though which i post in a separate thread is are rice cookers considered problematic health-wise b/c of it's plastic content while cooking on high heat??
