3 Ways to Hydrate with Vitamins + Minerals

iStock_000039718924_FullHydration is essential to health. When our bodies do not get enough caffeine and sugar-free fluid, we can experience any of the following symptoms:

  • Mental fog and confusion
  • Exhaustion
  • Dizziness
  • Poor digestion and constipation
  • Irregular body temperature and fluctuations
  • Weight gain

Experts recommend drinking 1 oz of water for every kg of body weight (roughly ½ an ounce for every pound). And while that standard holds true, if you struggle to hit that benchmark, we have 3 delicious and nutrient-dense ways to get more fluids and build better health.

1. Herbal Tea

  • Rooibos, chamomile, dandelion, mint, etc.
  • Depending on the tea, you can reduce or omit caffeine and drink 2-4 cups per day to add valuable trace minerals to the diet.
  • Mint tea is good for digestion and to stimulate the mind. Try it with Orange Blossom Water like they enjoy in Morocco.
  • Roasted Dandelion Tea is great for liver detoxification. Find a blend that includes chicory and vanilla for a nutty coffee-alternative.

2. Diluted Fresh Fruit + Vegetable Juice

  • Drinking diluted, fresh fruit and vegetable juice on an empty stomach helps absorb the enzymes from the juicing.
  • Try drinking 16 oz before breakfast. Dilute to the point of “barely sweet” for optimal blood sugar regulation.
  • Never consume straight fruit juice; always cut with vegetable juice and dilute with water. Cucumber and celery are great neutral-flavored blending juices.
  • Watermelon and cucumber are high in water content and fiber.

3. Mineral Broth

    • Try 8 oz once a day to balance the system and get a boost of blended nutrients.
    • Make a vegetable or bone broth in your slow cooker with kitchen clippings from onion, garlic, carrot, herbs, mushrooms, and sweet potatoes. Amp it up with sea vegetables and flaxseed.

You can also supercharge your water with lemon, lime, chlorophyll, or green powder to alkalize your body and a dash of maple syrup for added minerals and energy. Happy Hydrating!
