Looking for Deep Science, Finding a Community
I have always been passionate about natural health and the healing power of food, but for a long time, I didn’t know how to turn that passion into a clear professional path. I wanted more than quick tips and social media information—I wanted a deep, science‑based understanding of nutrition that still respected the whole person: body, mind, and lifestyle.
When I discovered Bauman College, something immediately felt right. Even from my very first contact during the registration process, I felt seen and supported. The staff was kind, patient, and genuinely interested in helping me move forward, which made a big impression on me.
It showed me that Bauman College doesn’t just talk about holistic care; they actually practice it in how they treat their students. Experiencing that level of care has been one of the most amazing parts of my journey—not just from the curriculum, but from how the college treats people.
The Power of Looking Beyond the Symptom
I chose the Holistic Nutrition Consultant program because it gives me exactly what I was looking for: a strong foundation in science‑based nutrition combined with a truly holistic approach. The way the courses are designed—moving from core nutrition science into real‑world client work—made me feel confident that I’ll be able to apply what I learn, not just memorize information.
As I started my studies, my view of health began to change. The most memorable thing I’ve learned so far is how powerful nutrition is when we look at the whole person, not just one symptom. I learned how nutrition connects with stress, sleep, hormones, digestion, and emotions, and I saw how powerful gentle, realistic changes can be for long‑term wellbeing.
I also appreciated that this program emphasizes ethics, scope of practice, and client‑centered care, which are very important to me. It felt like the best fit for the kind of knowledgeable, compassionate, holistic nutrition professional I want to become.
HEALCon 2026: A Turning Point on the National Stage
Attending NANP’s annual conference, HEALCon, with Bauman’s encouragement—and the support of a national student scholarship awarded by the conference planning committee based on the merit of my submission—was a true turning point for me.
This achievement holds a deeply special connection for our community, as the NANP annual scholarships celebrate the legacy of pioneering nutrition professionals, including the late Laura Barton—a brilliant Bauman College graduate, faculty member, and teacher trainer who dedicated her life to helping others achieve a healthier lifestyle.

Being surrounded by experienced professionals, hearing about functional lab testing, hormones, trauma, gut‑brain health, and more made me feel excited and proud to be entering this field. It completely validated my decision to pursue this path and showed me the vast possibilities waiting for a certified professional.
“The science and clinical parts of this education are real, but don’t lose your heart in the process—your compassion and life experience are just as important as the textbooks.”
The program being 100% online means I can continue my education while balancing the rest of my life but having the live interaction and the backing of a community to get me to major national events like HEALCon makes me feel like I am growing within a true professional family.
Guiding Clients Step-by-Step
Now, I see my education at Bauman as the foundation for the work I want to do. After I complete the program, I hope to work as a holistic nutrition consultant, supporting clients with personalized, food‑based, and lifestyle recommendations.
My goal is to help people understand the root causes behind their symptoms and guide them step by step toward better energy, digestion, mood, and overall well-being. I would love to build a practice where I can combine what I’ve learned at Bauman College with my own life experience, offering compassionate, science‑informed support to individuals and possibly small groups.
In the long term, I also hope to create educational resources—such as workshops, online classes, or newsletters—to make holistic nutrition more accessible to my community. I am grateful that I chose Bauman College, because it is not only giving me knowledge, but also shaping the kind of caring, ethical, and confident holistic nutrition professional I hope to become.
Words of Wisdom for Future Practitioners
If someone is interested in Bauman College or a career in Holistic Nutrition and the Culinary Arts, my advice is to be open, curious, and ready to grow both personally and professionally. This field isn’t just about recipes and nutrients; it’s about understanding the whole person—body, mind, and lifestyle—and being willing to keep learning. I would encourage them to read about the program, talk to admissions, and, if possible, connect with current students or graduates to hear real experiences.
I’d also say: be prepared to study seriously, because the science and clinical parts are real, but don’t lose your heart in the process—your compassion and life experience are just as important as the textbooks. Finally, I’d remind them that Bauman (and this profession) rewards people who ask questions, seek support, and stay connected to a bigger purpose: helping others improve their health and quality of life in a holistic way.
